Your Creative Project

While ENGL 6340 examines the form and theory of playwriting, the course is also designed to allow each of you to express yourselves as both students of literature and artists. The midterm exam and final conference paper engage with the former. For the latter, you will get the opportunity to produce a creative project that reflects upon the themes explored in any of the plays we read this semester.

Here are some examples of the types of projects you can put together:

  • art installation
  • creative nonfiction
  • short play
  • fiction
  • poetry
  • autobiography
  • photography
  • painting
  • sculpture
  • visual/multimedia
  • multi-genre text
  • testimonio
  • other ideas?

Everyone is required to meet with me to discuss these projects. These creative projects are extremely open-ended and the length of written material (total pages) is negotiable. Additionally, each project should also include a 1-2 page thought process essay.

Creative projects are due on Tuesday, April 30th. During class that day, you will present your creative project before your classmates.
